A scene can run as long as 2-3 minutes. Look at the scene frame by frame and identify the elements below, consider adding any additional information necessary to complete your analysis. Describe the diegesis, the mise-en-scène the elements contained within the scene, the movement of the camera, the lighting, the sound, the editing et cetera. Analyze the following aspects, • Diegesis (the narrative or plot) • Mise-en-scène (the setting, or surroundings of an event or action, the arrangement of scenery) • Cinematography (the scenes cinematographic elements, the lighting, is it low-key, or high key) • Editing (the filmmaking montage, the film’s editing technique) • Sound (the diegetic and non-diegetic elements) Students can choose scenes from the films listed below, from our academic textbook, or propose a film to the Instructor: • Reds • Jaws • Rebel Without A Cause • Sunset Boulevard • Baraka • Alien • Sherlock Jr. • Meet Me In St. Louis • Psycho • Platoon • To Kill A Mockingbird • The Hidden Fortress • The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari • Touch of Evil Or, students can pick scenes from the following list: ”Top 100 Greatest Movies of All Time (Links to an external site.).” The key here is to enjoy the film that you will be researching and analyzing. You will also want to obtain a media link of your film scene, consideration should be given towards obtaining quality visual scene material. Note: This assignment is due on, April 28th, 2021. You are expected to turn in your paper and as a PDF via Canvas.
