Directions for Film Critique
In this critique you will take the same perspective as a writer that you took for the ad essay. You are analyzing how the film is made by its creators and evaluating how they are persuading you. Focus on your main character. What role does the character play? How does the character conform to the normal expectations of that role? How does your main character defy expectations? In defying expectations did you learn something about values or meaning the character conveys? Can you see three different ways your character evolves toward the outcome?
In referring to the film, you will think about the background or social context of he film, the way the dialogues move the action, the way the character uses his body and facial expression to convey his relation to his world.
