What should a government’s policy be towards balancing the needs of their own people with global needs?

As Covid 19 ravages the world, it’s understandable to want to tune out of the daily reports of gloom and doom. But it’s not too late to start thinking critically about the pandemic, especially the response by nation-states around the world. Countries are still trying to manage the outbreak in their own countries, but soon lesser developed countries will start to experience the worst effects.Given that the virus seems to exacerbate the worst effects of inequality – both within and between countries – what should a government’s policy be towards balancing the needs of their own people with global needs? Make an argument asserting the principles of justice that should govern a county’s response. Should all countries be governed by these principles, or do certain countries with great resources have a greater obligation to people beyond their borders? If the virus did, in fact, originate in China, should it bear any special responsibility?This essay asks you to make a theoretical/moral argument, but will entail the use of empirical evidence as well. The purpose of this essay is to demonstrate a competence of the major arguments surrounding global justice, and to make an argument asserting certain policies.
