In Queer Migration Politics, Karma Chávez discusses the use of rhetorical devices that make coalitional movements possible. For this assignment you will discuss the significance of coalitional movements in the U.S. using Chávez’s work as a lens. Consider the following question as a guide to your paper: What is necessary for coalitional movements to be successful in addressing inequalities in the U.S.? You will need to cite at least two different chapters in Chávez’s book, as well as two other readings from the course. You can reference the working definition of social movements that we came up with as a class to help guide your discussion on coalitional movements.
