The MADD organization also helps victims of drunk driving accidents. Candy Lightner founded MADD after her teenaged daughter’s life was taken by a drunk driver in 1980. The story surrounding her daughter’s death is very sad and tragic, and could have honestly been prevented. The organization receives support from both federal and state governments. Their values are backed behind the slogan, Murder by car is still murder! The organization provides public awareness and educates others on the concerns of drunk driving. The organization does not limit its reach to alcohol, as it touches upon drug use as well. Upon reviewing their website, I found one of the most useful components of the MADD organization is their 24-hour victim help line. I believe this is a very important aspect of an organization who aims to not only prevent drunk driving, but to also assist those who have fallen victim. This is something that I would love to incorporate into my social media campaign. Even if its a 24-hour online chat system, where a representative may provide support to those who suffer from alcoholism, or are raising a child or loved-one who suffers from alcoholism. Alcoholism may lead to driving under the influence, and I believe the problem should be extinguished at the base. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). (2009). In P. Korsmeyer & H. R.
