Describe The Evaluation of Online Learning.
– If you were going to design an online course and be the instructor, exactly how would you set it up? Grading style? Modules? Quizes? Readings? Videos? Would your students work through the course at the same time, week by week, or would you allow your students to work at their own pace? Would you use recorded or live video lectures, or no lectures at all? Really put yourself in my shoes.Would you try to tailor your class content to your students? For instance, many biology students (but not all!) are medical majors. Therefor should the course content be focused on how biology relates to medicine? Or would that be doing a disservice to the non-medical majors in the class?**Note** I realize that if most students had their way, an online course would be as “easy” as possible for them. But maybe for this question imagine that you are designing and teaching an online class about your biggest passion. You really care about the subject, and want your students to learn!If you were teaching science online, how would you tackle labs? *(I have always felt that the labs were the most important and fun part of biology. This is where you get hand-on experience and learning!) For example- Would you mail home lab kits with supplies? Would you have your students purchase their supplies themselves (cheap household items that are easy to obtain)? Would you do all the labs with online simulations? What do you think about having your students go to a local park to collect data for a lab? Or do you feel that hands-on labs just aren’t important for learning biology?What have you done in online classes that you actually liked? For example- course structure, type of assignments, use of online learning tools, use of vidoes, apps, discussion boards, group activities, etc. If you remember doing something in an online class that you loved, remember, or really helped you learn, tell me about it even if you think it’s not biology related.What have you done in online courses that you disliked?
