Applying what you’ve learned in this class, how does our sense of “other” between different groups of people affect international relationships?

Throughout the semester we kept returning to the idea of “Other,” the label attached to create a divide between one group and another. Sometimes these divides are based on ideology, sometimes on nationality, sometimes on religion or race. Applying what you’ve learned in this class, how does our sense of “other” between different groups of people affect international relationships? Specifically, how is our ability as humans to come together in international organizations, fight armed conflicts, and give health and financial aid to each other affected by “me versus my brother, me and my brother versus my cousin, the three of us against all others”?
