Describe Criminology and Criminal Justice.
Choose 1 question from the Criminology section and 1 question from the Criminal Justice section. – Note that some of the Criminology section questions have 2 parts – A and B. Try to use 3 in text citations APA style with quotes etc. (2 for the criminology section {1 for each part} and 1 for the criminal justice question) Make sure there is a reference page and no need for a title page. I attached all the readings for this week to help with whichever questions you decide to answer. Try for 180 words minimum for each question/part thanks. CRIMINOLOGY #1. PART A: What are the assumptions of environmental theories of criminology, and why are these theories conducive to creating crime prevention policies?PART B: What are defensible space and CPTED? Describe the four principles of defensible space.#2. What three elements are needed in order for a crime to occur? Which of these elements is easiest for a policymaker or law enforcement professional to change/manipulate, and how does this translate into crime prevention?#3. PART A: How does broken windows theory differ from the social disorganization theories we covered earlier in the semester?PART B: How have you seen broken windows theory being applied today? What are some negative consequences that might arise from quality-of-life policing? CRIMINAL JUSTICE #1. Based on the readings from this module, discuss how the police authority to stop and frisk was questioned before the contemporary debates. Your response should include the following: information about stop and frisk before Terry v. Ohio; the substance of the Terry holding and its relationship to the original language of the 4th Amendment of the United States Constitution; Justice Douglas’ dissenting opinion in Terry; and, the Constitutional concerns raised in the 1965 article by Richard Kuh. #2. Research the criticism that have been made against Judge Shira Scheindlin’s ruling in Floyd v. City of New York. (a) Assess whether Judge Scheindlin’s findings in Floyd were consistent or inconsistent with the Constitutional concerns predicted when this police power was first authorized.
