Discuss New York Burning.

As your introduction, summarize the book New York Burning. Basically, explain what the book is about and major assertions made by the author. After your introduction, provide an overview of the 1741 slave rebellion plot in New York City. In the next two or three paragraphs, explain how the 1741 compares with other slave revolts or plots in American history, especially those mentioned in your main textbook, African American Odyssey. I want you to be able to put the 1741 plot in the context of the ways African Americans resisted slavery. In the second half of your paper (in perhaps two or three paragraphs), discuss the following question: Are you entirely convinced there was an actual slave rebellion plot in New York City in 1741, or was this mainly the product of what one historian has called the “paranoid style”? In other words, I want you to argue whether or not the 1741 was a true rebellion plot or something fabricated by anxious whites in New York City.
