Session Project: Social and Cultural Construction of ManagementFor this session project, analyze corporate or other business-related sites or social media (Inc, Forbes, etc.) to see if you can find evidence of one of the key images of organization isolated by Morgan. We will focus on three metaphors that Morgan describes:Organizations as MachinesOrganizations as OrganismsOrganizations as Cultures1.What “text” are you focusing on for this analysis (news article? magazine? company website? advertising? social media presence? business textbook? business education materials/site?)2.What words and images can you find that lead you to believe that a machine, organism, or culture metaphor is being used? Find as many examples as possible.3.Explain thoroughly how you see that image being built into the text you are analyzing. Are there photos, images, or drawings that reinforce the image?4.Identify what you think are the strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities of using the image.5.Reflect on the effects, consequences, and significance of your findings. Think of questions you could explore further about what you’ve discovered.
