Open the Assignment document and review the instructions for “shadowing” a nurse leader in your organization.Subtitle or Section:It is preferred that you shadow a BSN (or higher) nurse leader 1 to 2 levels above you in the organization. Make these contacts early allowing time for any required affiliation agreements. Notify your coach immediately if your organization requires an affiliation agreement. You must provide clear contact information to avoid unnecessary delays. Be aware this may take several weeks and could extend beyond end of the course.It is recommended you start with the Education Department or the office of the Chief Nursing Officer. Select and contact the manager, respectfully asking permission to observe him or her in leadership tasks at agreed upon times during the next two weeks.If you are unable to shadow a nurse manager, you may interview them instead. If you don’t have access to a nurse manager then you may shadow or interview a leader/manager in your community.
