The most common issue seen on the Cardiac Care Unit is patients that smoke or have a history of smoking. The CCU RN’s see a lot of these patients and if we give them these tools early on, we could potentially prevent seeing them down the road with worse cardiac issues. As well as educating patients on behavioral treatments. For example, the smoker quit lines or in person counseling for smoking cession.
