Choose a country (pre-approved by the Professor), and research that country’s individual employment law, discrimination law, and labor law for comparison to the United States and the International Labor Organization (ILO). The only tripartite U.N. agency, the ILO brings together governments, employers and workers representatives of 187 member States , to set labor standards, develop policies and devise programs promoting decent work for all women and men. Students can find all of the ILO’s conventions and recommendations on the ILO website under “Labour Standards” . Conventions and recommendations are non-binding resolutions on member countries. Students can determine which conventions their country has ratified (or adopted) on the ILO website under “Ratifications by Country”.
