Using the first three case studies—Hurricane Katrina (New Orleans), the Grenfell Tower fire (London, U.K.) and SARS (Toronto)—provide a review of the factors (e.g. race, immigration status, etc.) that affect how an urban crisis is experienced differently, and why? Include a brief discussion on the ways in which various levels of government (municipal, regional, national) address—or not—these social challenges.Examples of approaches to this assignment include: discrimination against specific ethnic groups; uneven access to resources; silencing of marginalized groups; sources of disaster response funding; delayed government responses.
