There are certain major “forces” that have informed the field of psychology over the years, and they follow a historical course; psychoanalytics, behaviorism, humanism, and multiculturalism. However, there are other endogenic and exogenic ‘sub-forces’ that have influenced the field over the years. One of those forces is the gender shift from male-majority to female-majority in the field. While it may seem difficult to comprehend today, the concept of women in psychology was unheard of for many decades.
