How does the Common Law approach this issue compared to how it may be dealt with under the Occupational Health and Safety Act?

Read the Kingston (City) v Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 109, 2011 CanLII 50313 (ON LA) and the Ditchburn v Landis & Gyr Powers, Ltd. 1997 (OCA) cases. Links to these cases can be found on the moodle website and have been discussed in the lectures. You can also go directly to the CANLII site and search for them by name.Assume you are explaining the cases to an intelligent but uninformed person about workplace law (AKA the Reasonable Person). In a few clear concise and well-written paragraphs (no more than 2 pages), explain the basic issues of each case and then compare and contrast the differences in approach and outcomes between these cases. Each deals with how violence in the workplace may or may not lead to justifiable summary dismissal. How does the Common Law approach this issue compared to how it may be dealt with under the Occupational Health and Safety Act?
