Which approaches have been most / least effective?

This summer, we’ve watched several films that portray conflict in different ways – from silent films, to big picture dramas, to propaganda, to animation, biographical sketches. Each film highlighted a different approach to film-making and to the use of various aspects of film. For this essay, I want you to consider the different ways filmmakers have used to make historical events connect with audiences. Which approaches have been most / least effective? What types of films have been most / least effective in reaching their audiences?
