Journal Entry: Artist or Con Artist?A few critics have called Marcel Duchamp’s “Fountain” the most important piece of art in the 20th Century:duchampDuchamp took an ordinary urinal, flipped it over, signed it with the psuedonym “R. Mutt 1917,” and submitted it to a gallery as a piece of sculpture. In doing so, he claimed that art isn’t necessarily something made by an artist, but anything an artist designates as art.
