Before you post, please read the chapter and check out the “Examples for Discussion 4” in the content area. To receive full credit, you must make the due dates, follow directions, and answer the questions fully. You need to make one original post and two respond to two other posts. Remember your netiquette when posting. Post 1:Go to a store (e.g. Wal-Mart or Target) and find two examples of what you would consider “unnecessarily” gendered products. In other words, look at products that both men and women use, yet are marketed in different ways to appeal to either men or women. You need to find the same product in alternate packaging for each gender. Be creative! Go into different parts of the store to see if something unexpected is packaged in a gendered way. Take pictures of the products. (If you are unable to take pictures, let me know.) Upload your pictures to your discussion post. Write a short description of how the product is being marketed to women and men. Note the price of the products. Is the women’s version of the product priced higher? Do you find the difference in packaging appealing enough to buy the gendered product for yourself?
