What types of solutions have already been proposed by others? What have theirexperiences investigating the problem taught them that I may not know?

Proposals usually have the following characteristics:Introduction and SummaryBackground information proving a specific problem exists. (Very important!)Propose a solution and discuss benefits.Describe the work to be done.Create work schedule.Proposal should have an itemized cost breakdown. Nothing is free! Be sure to research the costs.Should include qualifications of person or company doing the work.A concluding paragraph.Every proposal is different, so you might not follow the above to the letter. Be sure to review my notes in the learning module.Research Sources:You are required to use at least two (2) research sources. You may use websites, magazines, interviews, journals. You may not use Wikipedia, dictionaries definitions, or discussion forums as sources. Be sure to document those sources using MLA format, including in-text citations and a works cited page. Proposals that do not use the proper MLA citation system may be rejected. Avoiding Bad Topics:Since this is such a short document, I recommend keeping your topic fairly simple. Topics that involve major construction or major national or state-level programs are going to be far too complicated, unless you are itching to write a proposal of about 20 pages (single-spaced) for me. Here are some examples of bad topics:Construction of a building of some type.Construction of a parking lot.Creating a national or state-level program to feed the homeless. A plan to “reopen” the State of Texas or the entire United States in light of Covid-19.These are massive undertakings, so the proposals for these would be far more detailed and complicated. Instead, think of any area of COM, your workplace, or your neighborhood, where you think a genuine problem exists, prove the problem exists in the document, and design a feasible solution. For this assignment, you will identify a problem or area of possible improvement 1) at your job,2) in your local community, or 3) on the College of the Mainland campus and then propose asolution. You will research and attempt to develop a solution or suggest an improvement.This assignment will, of course, expose you more thoroughly to the genre of the proposal. Inaddition to learning proposal superstructures and conventions, we’ll work on creating a morecohesive, coherent arrangement and style. Chapter 16 of your textbook will have guidelines forformat and content. I would like you to keep in mind the following:▪ You will want to identify a relatively simple problem. This assignment is pretty short.▪ You will need to prove that the problem does exist with evidence.▪ You will need to think about all the alternatives for solving the problem.▪ Then, your document will propose what you consider to be the feasible solution and offerevidence to support that choice.▪ The proposal will then describe how to implement the solution.Again, be sure to choose a topic that is fairly simple. Proposing the construction of a newbuilding requires information on choosing the land, permits, contractors, and on and on and on.A topic like this would be too complicated.Research Sources:You will prepare a works cited page of outside resources.What’s a relatively simple problem at my work, in my local community, or College ofthe Mainland that concerns me?▪ Is this a problem for someone else, and if so, how?▪ What do I think needs to be done to solve it?▪ What types of solutions have already been proposed by others? What have theirexperiences investigating the problem taught them that I may not know?▪ What group (or groups) would benefit from my getting involved? (i.e. determine whothe stakeholders are)▪ Who is my audience? Who has the power to enact the change I am proposing? What aretheir primary concerns?
