Part 2 weekly meditation: In this video, a high-ranked lama of the Tibetan Sakya tradition, Avikrita Vajra Rinpoche explains the practice of Prostrations (which is paired with the meditation of Refuge in the Three Jewels and bodhicitta aspirations, i.e. wishes that all beings are happy). As you watch, notice the playful style of this video explanation given by this young lama, raised and traditionally trained between the US, India, and Nepal. Full prostrations, as they are shown and explained in the video, are a common devotional practice and meditation in the Tibetan and Himalayan world. Because prostrations are more ‘religious’ in their expression than other practices we have surveyed in this course: if you feel uncomfortable at the thought of prostrating before the Buddhist Refuge, you can try out one full prostration just for the bodily experience that will connect you to the experience of millions of practitioners of Tibetan Buddhism.
