#1.Our discussion, this week, is focused on just how, where, what and why valid data can be utilized when facing a challenge from the citizens we serve. Take time to look at any current magazine or newspaper and find an op-ed or an editorial piece. Take time to read it and see how different it is from pure reporting. Often op-ed pieces or editorials seem to have a slant and their factual information is often interpreted through preconceived ideas rather than more open mindedly. The focus of our discussion will be how do we professionally educate people to distinguish between fact and opinion, and more importantly, all the thousands that will be viewing such things in the media about what we do and why we do it the way we do it. Please post a 250-word or more initial post What we will be discussing are the sources from which we can draw valid information in which to shore up our argument (presentation). •Where should we look for statistical data? •What kinds of data should we be looking for?•Keep in mind that we as public servants often emotionalize our work. •While it is important and valuable that we value our work on an emotional level, it is also important that our response to such a query should not come from the emotional dimension.
