For this essay, create a rhetorical analysis that builds a counter argument. The response will make a judgment about the qualities of the authors writing as well as their opinions. So include quotations to show how the author creates an effect on the readers through the writing style itself. Since you are creating a counter-argument for this assignment, you will use the terms from the “Language of Persuasion” to identify flaws within the writing of your chosen author. So you will not be arguing that the chosen writer is simply “using persuasive devices.” You will be using the material from “The Language of Persuasion” as evidence to prove that your author’s writing is full of logical fallacies, or biased, or manipulative.
