Here’s the professor instructors for the essay: The trend of relocating to megacities and urban centers is leading to an entirely new set of demands. There are 33 megacities today; a megacity is any city with a population of more than 10,000,00 people.By 2050 at least 60% of all people will live in or around a massive city. City planners need to diver their actions in creating a better future. But… how? In this short essay (due Friday, 31st July) I want you to analyze how can future mega-cities be more sustainable? Think to other elements you’ve read, and describe what future cities need to do to be sustainable in the 21st century.It might help, for instance, to look at some of the historical data you’ve read about and think about cities that are not sustainable, that are overcrowded or have poor sanitation. Who do city planners need to coordinate with to make sure future cities are livable and sustainable? What can be done right away, and what will take a look more time? After looking at mistakes in the past, what can city planners do right? You can also think about questions like “what are some of the other effects of huge populations”? That’s not the focus ,but listening to the China’s Social Credit System might give you some ideas. This isn’t an essay about population control, it’s about cities, but there might be something interesting there.
