Uncategorized Assignment-helpYour astounding work at the Miami Museum for the History of Science has helped in producing a number of exhibits and countering potential controversies. Now, however, as the country faces both environmental and health crises which have revealed widespread distrust for science, the museum needs to make a statement.Part of the reason for this need is that some patrons have walked away from the museum with some misconceptions. “Eugenics? Scientific Racism? Industries paying for science? Why should we trust science to inform us about our health or how we live?,” asked one patron. “How do we know climate change is real if science is so imperfect?” Another patron quipped, “Why should I wear a mask or worry about the virus? Science is wishy-washy at best.” “If scientists can be misled or don’t even know if the cat is dead or alive, how can they know how the climate works?” posed another guest. Recently, you have read some works pointing out the continued need for scientific expertise, and now, as the country endures turmoil, the museum director has asked you to quickly write up a piece to voice the museum’s support for science as an authoritative discipline. The piece will once against appear in the local Miami Herald. Write an opinion piece in which you explain to Americans why and how history proves we should trust science. Consider these questions as you build your thoughts: if scientists are often wrong, why should we trust them? Can just any person speak for science in that case? If science has been corrupted before, why should we trust it?In the piece, you must use sources and specific events or people from the course. The more you use generally the better you will do. Be as specific as you can about the history. You should use at least two sources and a couple clear examples for full points. The piece is due July 31 at 1:00pm. Formatting and Structure:You must have a title once again for this paper as a headline for the piece. The paper should be double spaced with page numbers and in 12 point font.It does not have to follow a strict intro-body-conclusion style, but do make sure your point is clearly made and you incorporate evidence. When you cite a source, use the author’s last name and offer the page number: (Ede & Cormack 10).Do not use outside sources.Tips:•The key here is to be specific. Part of the point of the assignment is to prove what you’ve learned in the course. So the more specific info you give the better. For instance, don’t just say “during the Scientific Revolution many people contributed to many new ideas.” State who and what ideas. Name names.•State your position clearly. While you can write more fluidly on this assignment, I should be able to ascertain what you’re trying to say easily and quickly. Imagine me rushing to grade the paper at night. Even if that obviously won’t happen because of my diligence (and this is all joking), just anticipate your reader is like that.•Remember that this is for a general audience, including many people who do not understand science or are not familiar with the topics covered.Use this site https://history.aip.org/climate/summary.htm and the two listed in the downloads.
