An important goal of the argumentative research paper is persuasion, which means the topic chosen should be debatable. You should provide some build up to your thesis statement including a hook to pull in your audience and often an introduction to a paper of this length may be two paragraphs. The most important thing to remember about the introduction is that it should draw your readers in and set up your assertion. If you use graphs or pictures to enhance your work, images should not be larger than the size of a credit card or your school id. If you feel you need to use an image larger than the size of a credit card or id, you should make up for the extra space used by adding more text. Also, any visual you use in your essay should be cited in the text and on your works cited page.Any background information that you think will be useful. Imagine that your readers are unfamiliar with the problems at the heart of your research. What will you have to tell them?A conclusion which reflects on your central question, claim, and research. What did you find out? How did the research answer your question (or complicate it)? Your purpose is to show this audience how an aspect of your topic may influence their lives in surprising ways and possibly enhance their understanding of the world we live in. By the end of your essay, your readers should have a new appreciation for the complexities of a problem or concept they may not have considered before.Note: This paper is not a report.
