Discuss why the representations you are analyzing are important for you and your understanding of Feminist Media criticism
You must organize your thoughts on the chosen media texts into a relevant thesis. · In your analysis, you should critically discuss how key themes and concepts that we have discussed in the course, shape and/or support your argument. · This means that you must have an argument that is developed into a longer essay that enables you to critically read a media text, while engaging existing work within Feminist Media Criticism. · You must have a title page & bibliography. In your bibliography you must name the style guide you have employed (i.e. MLA / APA / Chicago). · In your bibliography you must provide links to the media texts that you are analyzing. · Outside sources are not recommended, nor are required for this assignment GOALS OF THE ASSIGNMENT · To demonstrate your knowledge of key debates related to gendered representation that we have learned in the course. · To apply your knowledge in a sustained critical analysis · To apply your critical reading skills to analyse a media artefact(s) that has been significant for you as a viewer. WHERE DO I BEGIN? · Ask yourself what media texts or genres are of interest to you? · What gendered representations appeal to you as a viewer, and which ones do not? And why? · Which course readings will you draw from to shape your essay? · How do I understand myself as a spectator in relation to the media text I am engaging with? · A brief reflection (100wds approx) on why you chose the particular text(s) as part of your analysis. *this could be part of your introduction · A synopsis of the media text(s) that you have chosen, before offering your critique. · Ensure that the course materials are relevant and support your analysis of the media text(s) you have chosen · Discuss why the representations you are analyzing are important for you and your understanding of Feminist Media criticism
