Does the evidence presented support the author’s arguments?

The review must, first, clearly state the author’s thesis and primary arguments and, second, provide a brief overview of the book. Note that the overview portion of the review should clearly demonstrate that you have read the book in its entirety, and it should be thorough enough that anyone who reads your review would understand the scope of the book and the broad arc of the book’s narrative and analysis. Be sure that your summary does not simply mirror what is on the back cover or abstract or in a published book review, and that it does not simply summarize a couple of the chapters, though you may highlight certain chapters more than others.
Third, you should include your own critical analysis of the book. The review should not simply criticize the book for being “too long,” “boring,” etc. (though some of you may feel this way about one or more of the readings). Instead, offer a critical analysis of the author’s argument and their effectiveness in supporting the argument with evidence. Are the arguments convincing? Why or why not? Is the research substantial and significant? Does the evidence presented support the author’s arguments? Are there any significant problems with the book’s logic, or problematic gaps in the book’s coverage of its topic?

The reviews should be about 3 pages long (approximately 700-800 words) and must be typed and double-spaced (12 point font), with one-inch margins.
