Depending on where the most effective effects are possible, therapies or interventions can be applied to different levels. They consider schemes targeting whole demographic groups, families or individuals. The role of public health nurses in every sense is based on disease prevention, disability or injury prevention, health improvement and community well-being treatment. What is Public Health Nursing? Public Health Nursing (PHN) promotes community well-being by encouraging wellness and reducing sickness, disability and premature death for all Los Angeles County residents. PHN increases the quality of urban life by working in collaboration with members of the city to build conditions that guarantee a safe life (“LA County Department of Public Health – PHN,” n.d.).

The community health nurse is a very important part of the interdisciplinary team. An interdisciplinary team is composed of nurses, doctors, pharmacists, therapists, etc. The community health nurse as stated is responsible for the care of patients out in the community or when they are not hospitalized.

One huge part of community health nurse’s role is to educate patients. These nurses educate patients on new diagnosed diseases, assist recovering patients, and also help assist and educate non-compliant patients with disease management.Prevention strategies as you mentioned as vital. Creating awareness via events, free food, and screenings are likely to get people involved in their health. After learning about many health disparities in my community alone,it becomes more evident that there is a huge role that the public health nurse plays on an individual and overall community level
