The purpose of this assignment is to give you basis for raising questions about what we can know. Is pre-cognition possible? Pre-cognition is coming to know about an action or event before it occurs. If the world as we know it is based upon a cause and effect principle, how can one be justified about making claims that has not yet occurred? There are fantastic stories in religion and in other spaces where someone claim they can see the future, but the past is known or knowable, because it has occurred. The present is a toss up, but the future is a like the branches of a tree: they go in several different directions. Thus, you’ve read the chapter, now you are going to apply your knowledge to real life events.
Task:
Read chapter two in your textbook (The Possibility of the Impossible). Be sure to read slowly and carefully. Make notes so that you can adequately defend which ever position you choose.
