Does entrepreneurship, or being an entrepreneur, appeal to you?

Course: NARRATIVE APPROACHES TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP

First, read the pieces by Cullen and Valdez that describe the idea, or myth, of “The American Dream.” Then, take a few minutes to consider your own relationship to the American Dream, regardless (or because!) of where you grew up. Is the American Dream an idea with which you are familiar? Where or how did you learn about this idea? Or, what stories were you told about success growing up? Have you felt like the American Dream is something you can achieve? Why or why not? Does entrepreneurship, or being an entrepreneur, appeal to you? Why or why not?

Write a paragraph or two (about 500 words) that describes your relationship to the American Dream based on the above questions. Make sure you are responding to the American Dream idea as discussed by Cullen and Valdez (that is, draw from their description(s) and not a more general or vague understanding of this idea).
