Becoming CULTURALLYCOMPETENT
The next step toward becoming CULTURALLYCOMPETENT is to develop an increased awareness of the many links on the HERITAGECHAIN of your family, and of the health/HEALTH practices within your family, both in past generations and in the present.
1. Conduct a “Heritage Assessment” on the person you interview. (Herritage Assessment is found under the content area). You do not need to hand in the assessment or post it. It is for you to answer question 2.
2. Who are you? Where did your family originate? What are the health/HEALTH and illness/ILLNESS beliefs and practices that have been passed on through your family? Discover answers to these questions by interviewing your parents and grandparents. If you cannot interview your parents or grandparents, please indicate who you interviewed.
