That old saying has become all the more important in modern world: thinking critically about images and understanding how the impact you as an individual, as well as your society, is a very important skill. The sources have to be responding to HOW and WHY the image impacted America and changed it. The impact, the change can be sociological, political, ideological, artistic – and, in many cases, a combination. In some cases, the image itself may not have been key to the change but its implication was massive. Also, not every photograph was taken in America. But, each still had an impact on the country.
