After WWII, many German soldiers and members of the SS stated that they were just following orders and had no choice but to participate. However, in the reading the author stated that the German soldiers who asked to be excused from the killing squads were not punished. What does this reveal about the nature of Anti-Semitism in Europe and do you feel enough people faced punishment for their actions during the Holocaust?
