Must offer a cultural analysis of two similar objects from across time which compares and contrasts elements within the cultural context of eachSteps: Select two cultural artifactsA “cultural artifact” could be a lot of different things- a pair of advertisements, songs, speeches, products, shows, movies, toys, etc. Keep in mind these things must be items- not people, not bands, not groups. Also, be careful if comparing technologies- if all you have to say about an item is that it has cooler technology than it did in the past, that won’t end up in a successful paper. Keep in mind that you should be comparing two like items- you don’t want to compare an advertisement with a movie, for example. Also, you wouldn’t want to compare a movie about pineapples with a movie about crime scene investigations, since lack of comparability would make the analysis difficult. -Analyze your pieces/create thesis: What makes the two items that you have chosen significant? Significant in relation to one another? What societal changes can you garner from the different items? Formulate a strong thesis that shows critical thought and analysis of the time-sensitive nature of the items.Outline: What is the best way to organize your thoughts to convey the analysis that you have done with the items? How will the progression support your thesis? Write the paper!-Situate the cultural artifacts: What makes these particular artifacts important across time and space? What is it about the item that has made it important enough to span generations? -Analyze the cultural artifacts: What are some of the major characteristics of each item and how are they similar or different from one another? Are these similarities/differences important and what do they suggest about societal progression? -Evaluate the items in relation to cultural change: What do the artifacts suggest about the cultural times from which they emerge? What might the progression mean for the future?
