When you cite a quote from a Renaissance-era play, follow this format:

When Theseus says “Hippolyta, I woo’d thee with my sword, / And won thy love, doing thee injuries” (1.1.18-19), he creates a sense of conflict and introduces the theme of romantic relationships going through a rough patch.

What I am highlighting here is that the parenthetical citation includes the Act number, the Scene number, and the Line(s) number. Note how the three go inside the parenthesis, are separated by a period, and are in Arabic numerals. Do not use Roman numerals. Also, line breaks are separated by a forward slash flanked by empty space.
