Compare and contrast how a contemporary novel, The Handmaid’s Tale, and film Thelma and Louise, present and interpret a common theme. You may use scholarly articles that critique or interpret the novel and film if you like but they are not required. A successful approach to this essay is to compare one or two elements from the novel (characters, setting, conflicts, symbols, etc.) and the film in order to examine how these two works are similar and different in their exploration of a common theme.
