For each application below, choose a material which is suitable and explain your reasoning. In explaining your choice, relate the properties the application requires to the mechanical and physical properties of your selected material. You need to select a different material for each application and you need to select a material for every application:
1) Bumper bar for a family car;
2) Floor of the passenger cabin of a 747-800;
3) Window latches for a holiday house on the beach;
4) A fuel tank for a car that uses hydrogen liquid as fuel;
5) A pressure vessel to contain caustic soda (NaOH) at 280°C at 3.5MPa
6) Material for a commuter train wheel;
7) A drive shaft for a rear wheel drive car;
8) turbine blade for a turbojet engine.
