Describe a figurative language.

Part I). In this forum, you will compose or formulate a simile that no one has heard of before. (A simile is a comparison of two different things using the words “like” or “as.”) As you read in Rebecca Hazelton’s essay, we use similes and metaphors all the time in our writing and speaking. You have certainly heard phrases like, “It’s hot as hell,” “her eyes sparkle like diamonds,” “you’re as cold as ice,” “I’m high as a kite,” or “I feel like crap.” In general conversation and casual writing, using these similes are just fine. However, these are clichés, so if writers really want to make an impression, they create metaphors and similes that are new and unique.Consider these following two similes:“Delia’s habitual meekness seemed to slip from her shoulders like a blown scarf.”“A sickly light, like yellow tinfoil, was slanting over the high walls into the jail yard.”In both these cases, two different things are being compared effectively. The woman’s meekness is being compared to a scarf, and the morning light is being compared to tinfoil. Both of them work because they are original and make sense.On the other hand, look at this simile:”The flashlight glowed as dimly as toast not yet toasted in the toaster.”Yes, two different things are being compared here, but the comparison makes no sense.Also look at this simile:“Her eyes were like two brown circles with big black dots in the center.”In this case, the two items being compared, eyes and brown circles, are not at all unlike each other, and so the simile doesn’t work.
