Describe A Systemic Plan for Continuous Improvement.

Use the continuous improvement model (Plan, Do, Check, Act) to design a professional development session for disaggregating student achievement data and developing an instructional focus calendar.Decide which mathematics or reading data for a middle school or elementary school educators participating in a professional development session will access and interpret. Outline the methods and formats (online, paper copies, etc.) participants will use to access and study the data.Develop discussion and facilitation questions to guide participants in articulating an instructional focus in either mathematics or reading by analyzing the data. Your session strategies should guide participants to list and formulate:State and local standards involving the instructional focus;Specific desired outcomes for improvement and achievement, possibly including reducing achievement gaps among populations;Differentiated instruction and learning plans for students at different levels of mastery, including those who have mastered the instructional focus;Components of learning associated with the instructional focus (vocabulary, how-to steps, manipulatives, student materials, etc.)Describe how you will lead teacher teams to plan benchmark, instructional, monitoring, and assessment strategies for the instructional focus and list specific resources needed.Using a Word table to create a template for an instructional focus calendar for one month. Each week of your focus calendar should include:Specific standards and student expectations for mathematics or reading for the day(s) or week;Instructional strategies and student skills for each lesson;Formative assessments for schoolwide data reviews;Progress monitoring;Interventions for students showing insufficient progress;At least one teacher professional development activity each week (outside of class time) related to the instructional focus;Measurement or documentation of each of the above components. Explain how you will guide participant teams to collaboratively develop the focus calendar, including providing ideas for their professional development activities.Create a professional development session agenda and at least one handout relating the continuous improvement model (Plan-Do-Check-Act process) with the development of the instructional focus calendar.
