Directions – Writing (80 points):1) Bibliography. Write bibliographic information for the article in the citation style for MLA(Modern language Association, APA (American Psychological Association) or SAA(Society for American Archaeology) style. There are tons of websites out there to helpyou with this. For SAA style, go go saa.org, then click ‘About the Society’ and findPublications from the drop down menu, hover over that and you’ll see Style Guide.2) Summarize: What is the point of this article? What are the main arguments? Whattopics are covered? If someone asked what this article/book is about, what would yousay? How are the main arguments supported by research and data? The summaryshould be about half of an annotation – between 500 and 600 words for each article.3) Evaluate: How does this source reflect, build on, or contradict what you already knowfrom class? Is there material in your textbook that you can use to interpret the author’sapproach? In this portion of your bibliography, you’ll be making links between what thesource says and the Neusius textbook, the Oswalt book, my lectures, and the moviesyou’ve seen. The evaluation should be about half of an annotation – between 500 and600 words for each article. You’ll follow steps 1-3 twice for a total of two articles. The overall length of your assignmentmust be at least 2000 words. The bibliographic information for each article does not counttoward the word count. Your total word count for the assignment should be less than 2400words. I’ll allow a little bit above the word count, but don’t go crazy.Tips1) Give yourself plenty of time for this assignment. It should take you an hour or two tofind articles you want to read. It will take you a couple of hours to read and take noteson them. It will take you several hours to write your assignment.2) Find articles that are substantial in length. Articles that are around 10 pages might beok, but articles that are 15-20 pages or longer will give you more information to summarize and should provide you with better opportunities to link article informationto themes from class3) If the article doesn’t talk about a bunch of things we talked about in class, skip it. Thismay mean you have to read a few abstracts to find the right article, or you’ll read anarticle and realize it’s not suitable once you’re through with it. Picking the right article iscrucial for doing well on this paper!Grading RubricApproval of your two articles is worth a total of 20 points – 10 points for each article. Each annotated bibliography you write is worth 35 points for a total of 70 points.
