Describe Political Socialization.

•What people have most influenced your views on politics? Friends or family members? Any public figures? •What is your first political memory? Why does it stand out? What affect do you think it had on your political views? •What today is different from that of your first political memory? What is similar? •What events most influence your views on politics? Was it something personal? Some large national event? What lesson did you draw from it? •Do you identify with a political party? Which? •[If they identify with a political party] oWhen did you start to identify with this political party? oWhat is it that attracts you to this party? •[If they do not identify with a political party] o Do you lean to a particular party? oWhat is it about that attracts you to them? oWhat is it about that party that you dislike? •What should be the most important priorities right now for the President and our national leaders? •What are the most important jobs that our government should do? •Did you have an opportunity to vote in the 2016 & 2018 elections? •If so, who did you vote for? •Why did you support that candidate? •Who would you like to win the presidency in 2020? Why? •Who are you voting for in the election for Congress from your district? Why? When you have completed interviewing this person, ask yourself these same questions. Write a one-page, typewritten summary in paragraph form (300-350 words) comparing your own political views to your interviewee. How similar or different are your political views from the person you interviewed? How much do you think that person might have influenced your political views?
