Discuss Business Ethics – Values in Tension/Ethics Away From Home.
The values of human dignity, basic human rights and good citizenship should be the core ethical values for international business according to Donaldson. But different cultures have different traditions, customs and ethical values. Why does honoring both these the core ethical values and the local traditions, customs and local ethical values present such a problem? Would a manager be justified in insisting that she break with the local customs and traditions in order to promote the these core ethical values that Donaldson endorses?
