Discuss Terrorist Task Forces in the U.S.
Proposal question: How did 9/11 and other terrorist activities affect the NYPD/Law enforcement.The main topic about my paper is the explanation of how the NYPD Terrorism task force and Joint terrorist task force was created and what measures they take to keep our city safe. NYPD is an institution that started in 1845 as a law enforcement technique to control rising crime. The force was formed when New York State passed the Municipal police act. They are here to keep the city safe but what will they do when much more extreme crimes start to happen. Examples of an extreme crime is the 9/11 attacks caused by terrorist organizations. Law enforcement have had a Joint terrorist task force in place since 1980 before the 9/11 attacks but the organization at the time was quite small. It only consisted of a few officers and FBI detectives. After the 9/11 attacks which was one of the biggest terrorists attacks this country has experienced, the NYPD and other law enforcement offices all around the United States took initiative in creating and growing the counter terrorism task force. There are many parts to this task force such as the Bomb Squad, Domain awareness system (DAS), Lower Manhattan Security Initiative, Terrorism threat analysis group and World Trade Center Command.What has caused me to write about this topic is the curiosity I have to learn more about the NYPD and how the organization has grown from just law enforcement to needing the ability to protect its citizens from major city attacks. The NYPD has become one of the most powerful police forces in the United States and possibly the world giving them the ability to act as a military and have military style equipment to prevent attacks and crimes. •Speak about how the NYPD diversity is good.•Bring a critical perspective in Essay.•State how this has been beneficial to stopping terror acts since 9/11•State NYPD involvement in terrorist acts / corruption.This is my Proposal speak about all terrorist task forces in the U.S. and how they all started and what terrorist attacks did they prevent.
