Discuss what the similarities in the approaches these two disciplines take in addressing issues of the environment and development.

1)This course is titled the Anthropology of the Environment and Development, but it has its roots in two different, but overlapping, sub-disciplines and theoretical approaches. The first is Environmental Anthropology, which is informed by Political Ecology, and the second is the Anthropology of Development, which is informed by Political Economy. Each of these has its own historical trajectory in Anthropology, but there are many similarities. In this essay, first define Environmental/Development anthropology and political ecology/economy. For the remainder of the essay, discuss what the similarities in the approaches these two disciplines take in addressing issues of the environment and development. Use specific case studies from the textbook chapter 1 and the Watts and Peet article.
