Note what you have learned and/or any insights you gained as a result of the comments your colleagues madeHERE IS THE DISCUSSION THAT YOU WILL BE RESPODING TO:Hello Class,IntroductionThis writer will post an analysis of how her personal definition of leadership has changed or expanded since she has begun this course. She will explain at least one significant idea or experience from this course that may be of value in preparing her for the future as a supervisory or administrative role.Definition of leadershipThe definition of leadership in the beginning was about how a leader trains an employee, how they conduct themselves that earns respect without demanding the respect, and the way they improve on existing structures of the organization. The leader should state his or her vision to others and allow others to create a piece of that vison.During this course, this writer learned that her skills and abilities are much in balance with one another and that relationships and tasks for example are both a priority for her. The significance of completing tasks is vital at the end of the day, it helps to prepare for tomorrow. The ‘Sundown Rule’ ensures that this writer has tied up all the loose ends before the sun goes down, make those calls that were not completed earlier or at least let that person know you will call them first thing in the morning. The most significant experience from this courseThis writer feared she would be perceived as a commander, but it turns out that she is a great listener, too. This writer will continue to work on four main areas within herself and in the organization she works in, they are: the climate, relationships, communication, and meaning. This writer believes that a positive climate, allows leaders to foster relationships and create the kind of environment for employees to thrive in, by having compassion, forgiveness, and gratitude (Northouse, 2018). People feel encouraged and are more productive when they are in a positive environment.Positive relationships foster positive self-images and strengths rather than negative images and weaknesses. Leaders should acknowledge and build on people’s strengths which encourage the employees to do the same, which extends to positive communication (Northouse, 2018). Lastly leaders should foster positive meaning by connecting employees values to the values of the company and showing how that impact can impact the longevity of the company. The one thing this writer lacks is technical skills; she would benefit to work with someone who was knowledgeable in Excel spreadsheets and other platforms. Conclusion The definition of leadership did change for this writer. She believes that leaders come with their own set of abilities and skills and that a leader will complement the skills of the staff. This writer strives to be relationship based but needs the list of tasks to ensure she is meeting her goals. Ultimately, she will continue to work on the main areas to create those positive relationships, and foster positive change. ReferencesNorthouse, P. G. (2018).
