Do you now believe things about Scripture, God, Creation, Humanity, Jesus Christ, Salvation, and the Church that you didn’t believe when you began?

1. Re-read your original Statement of Belief. 2. Use that as a starting point and conversation piece. Remember: when you wrote your Statement of Belief you had less theological formation. Now, you have many theological tools under your belt. Your new theological statement should reflect your matured understanding. 3. Before you write out your new statement, reflect upon the following questions: • Having now taken this course in the Mysteries of Christianity are there any things that you originally said that you no longer agree with or would say differently? • Do you now believe things about Scripture, God, Creation, Humanity, Jesus Christ, Salvation, and the Church that you didn’t believe when you began? If so, what are they? • Even if your beliefs did not change in general, are you now able to articulate these beliefs in new ways? Be specific. Perhaps you already believed much (or not much) of what you learned in this course, but you now have the language with which to express what Christians believe. Document this in some explicit fashion. • Are there any beliefs that have surfaced in either the readings or lectures with which you do not agree? If so, what are they and why do you disagree? • What ideas from the course do you think are particularly important? Why? 4. In writing your statement, you should draw on both our main books (the Bible and the Christological Controversy book) as well as any other readings or class discussions that moved you. You must make at least six explicit references, with intelligent commentary, to our readings. For references and quotations, make an abbreviated parenthetical reference in the body of the text. For example, (Romans 6:3) or (Christological Controversy, 92).
