Choose one or the other to write about! If you have a topic of your own you would like to explore, propose it here and as long as I approve it, you are good to go. Do not proceed without approval! Write a paper of at least 7 pages on that text Your paper must have a thesis; that is, you must frame what you want to say as an argument You must quote the text in each of the supporting paragraphs Your paper must have a beginning, a middle and an end–an introduction, followed by a clear statement of your thesis; a number of body paragraphs to support your argument, with quotation from a text; and a conclusion A first-rate paper would also include reference to one of the scholarly articles we read with the novels this semester Should any reading from another text help you to make your argument, by all means, include it! But you are not required to do so All papers must be carefully edited.
