BRIEFLY explain how Griffin darkens his skin. In your opinion, would he really be able to pass himself off as a Negro? Why is he accepted as a Negro by Southern society, both white and African-Americans?
It is apparent in the book that all Southerners, both white and African-Americans, had multiple personalities; that is, they treated people of the same race differently than people of the opposite race. Explain this statement and give some indication as to why this is the case in the American South.
