Healthcare is transforming due to the use of technology, which helps solve the issues that health care organizations are facing. Technology has brought great help in organizations, for it helps meet the growing demand for patient care and effectively deliver quality care (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2017). Our organization deals with people with mental health conditions, and technology has advanced the mental department’s services. We use smartphone apps that help people with mental health conditions, manage depression and anxiety, and provide essential data to the physicians, therapists, and health care informaticists. There are also internet-based apps are used by support groups to offer a platform by which mental patients can find support and guidance. Furthermore, telehealth uses telehealth to improve access to mental health care for patients who can consult their providers through phone or video conferencing. Telehealth helps reduce costs and improve health care access for the patients who find it expensive to travel to the hospital.

The challenges involved in technology trends include patient engagement. The smartphone apps and the online platforms may have issues with the product limitations to the patients interested in becoming participants. Besides, the applications may challenge data security and privacy and confidentiality of patient data, for unauthorized access may be experienced during collecting and handling user data (Oftedal, Iakovleva, & Bessant, 2019).

One of the promising technology trends in health care is smart bed technology. Smart beds have a significant role in patients’ safety and comfort during their stay in the hospital (Ghersi, Mariño & Miralles, 2018). They also help nurses to track movement, weight, and even vitals for the patients. Additionally, smart beds offer nurses a constant monitor that provides a regular update and communication on the patient’s activities.
